Life Goes On

Despite the fevered anticipation, ho-hum, regular life, how it does go on. One simply must brush one's teeth, go to work, buy groceries, and get one's hair cut.

Though it does enliven the routine more than a little to be able to guilelessly (ha!) ask people, "Guess what I'm gonna do this summer?"

I tried that one out on Karla, my hair guru and the "source of all knowledge," as Scott and I fondly refer to her. And it's true, Karla, quite literally knows everything.

I took this picture from the vantage point that is usual for me when having conversations with her.

In the meantime, I'm like a big sponge--a loofah, perhaps--absorbing such useful facts as "The Ph in Phnom Penh is silent" [who ever heard of a silent Ph???], "You need a netbook," "Taking Pepto-Bismol tablets preemptively can prevent Montezuma's [Ho Chi Minh's?] revenge, and "Don't take a nap when you arrive--it will only make the jet lag worse."

So much to learn, so little time!
